Crooked Bra Pads

Last week I was standing at the Smith machine facing the mirror and resting between sets when I noticed my left boob looked a little…off. Sure, some women might just reach down to adjust, but I’m not one of those women.

I follow a vegan fitness influencer, Fit Vegan Chef, on Instagram.

The other day she posted a story asking for most embarrassing experiences in the gym. Knock on wood, I don’t have much to say…yet. At least not in the gym. One thing did stand out, however.

Last week I was standing at the Smith machine facing the mirror and resting between sets when I noticed my left boob looked a little…off. Sure, some women might just reach down to adjust, but I’m not one of those women. I realized the bra pad had flipped and folded in half inside the bra — most likely in the washer or dryer. Being that I work out early, I hadn’t noticed when I slid it on that morning.

Until now.

Facing that mirror, I glanced from my spot at the coveted machine (people snap those up fast) and back at the locker rooms way on the other side. Shrugging I just kept going. Eh, so I have a deformed looking boob, I’m not here to impress anyone anyway. And I kept going.

Interestingly, it seems like most people are there to “impress.” While I do throw a bit of mascara on and comb my hair, I don’t really do much else that early. Looking around, some women have perfectly matching leggings and sports bras, or workout tops, cute knee socks, and hair do-ups that look like they are ready to pose for Shape magazine.

Then there I am, hair somewhat pulled up, tendrils poking out, leggings bought on Amazon or TJ Maxx, an old muscle shirt I’ve had since before my kids were born, and one deformed looking boob.

I suppose you gotta go through the ugly ducking stage a bit before you get to the swan? Maybe.

Or maybe I’ll always be that woman who doesn’t notice the bra pad has folded inside of her bra. I finished my sets anyway.
